International Museum Day

The theme of this year’s International Museum Day is Museums and Contested Histories: Saying the unspeakable in Museums. In Valencia, they will focus on the concept of refuge such a cultural and art refuges but also tackling the current refugee crisis that has shattered the world.

Many museums in Valencian will open their doors free of charge especially on 18th & 20th May. On the 20th of May we will celebrate the European Night of Museums whereby participating museums and other monuments will open their doors free of charge until midnight.

There will be a wide range of activities, workshops, talks, conferences and games organized by the different museums on and around International Museum Day. On the European Night of Museums, the Lonja and the Almudin will also take part even if they are not technically museums. Please note, however, that not all museums in this the following list will take part in the European Night of Museums.

European Night of Museums on 20th May: Singing and guitar recitals from 4.00pm – 8.00pm. The rest of the museum will be open until midnight.

There will also be a special bus called Corremuseus that will take you for free to many of the museums on the 18th – 20th May. The bus that has been chosen is Line 5 of EMT as it passes by many of the participating museums. Línea-5-EMT
